Summer Reading Program

Summer Kickoff is May 26-29, 2026!

Stop by the library any day during our Summer Kickoff Week to learn all about the treasures we have awaiting you this summer. Pick up your reading challenge log, see the grand finale prizes, and check out some new books to get your summer started!

Kickoff week:

  • Tuesday, May 26 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 27 from 12 - 2 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 28 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Friday, May 29 from 12 - 2 p.m.

Join the Kyle Public Library's Dig into Reading Challenge today! Track 45 days of reading this summer to earn a chance at some exciting prizes. 

How to participate:

  • Pick up your reading log at the library between May 26 and June 23.
  • Color in a square for each day you read. All types of reading count (graphic novels, audiobooks, storytime books, etc.)
  • Turn in your completed log by Friday, August 7.
  • Prize winners we be drawn on Monday, August 10.

Thursday Performers

ALL Summer Performers are ticketed events. All events are limited capacity with tickets available while supplies last. Tickets will be available for pickup at 9:30 am on the morning of the event.

Tickets are limited to five (5) per family / group.

You must have an active Kyle Public Library card to pick up your tickets.

Thursday, June 4 | 1 and 3 p.m.

This show is best suited for ages 5-12 years.

This high-energy show features live experiments in physics, chemistry, and electricity, with thrilling demonstrations like air vortexes, color-changing liquids, and exciting chemical reactions. Packed with audience participation and jaw-dropping effects, this interactive show makes science fun for all ages.

Thursday, June 11 | 1 and 3 p.m.

Best suited for ages 3-12 years.

This exciting, educational experience introduces children to fascinating creatures while inspiring a love of reading. Throughout this engaging presentation, children and families will learn about these animals. Special animal visitors may include: rabbits, hedgehogs, guinea pigs, and a bearded dragon.

Thursday, June 18 | 1 and 3 p.m.

Best suited for ages 0-8. 

Get ready to sing, dance, and imagine with Ms. Bubbles and Ms. Bright! Join these lovely, certified teachers and performers and their original puppets for interactive musical storytime adventures that spark joy and creativity.

Thursday, June 25 | 1 and 3 p.m.

Best suited for ages 3-12 years.

You can probably name some fascinating prehistoric creatures. But is each one of them actually a dinosaur, or NOT? You might be surprised! What makes a dinosaur a dinosaur? You’ll definitely know after this presentation and be well on your way to being a paleo expert! Be ready to meet BK Bones’s baby dinosaur puppet pal!

Thursday, July 9 | 1 and 3 p.m.

Best suited for ages 0-8 years.

Known for high-energy shows where the audience becomes the band, Tio Toto invites kids and caregivers to sing, dance, and even help create songs live during the performance. Blending family-friendly folk-pop with quirky storytelling and playful surprises, Tio Toto’s shows delight audiences of all ages. His performances often include bilingual moments, encouraging kids to sing in both English and Spanish while celebrating creativity, culture, and curiosity. Cantamos, bailamos, y creamos música juntos — we sing, dance, and make music together.

Thursday, July 23 | 1 and 3 p.m.

Best suited for ages 5-12 years.

Sounds like science! Kids get tuned into learning with exciting demonstrations and experiments, including the surprisingly loud dinosaur-in-a-can, the glowing electric pickle, and a kid-created thunderstorm!

Summer Crafts

Discover your creativity in this come-and-go craft program. Dive into a Summer of Discovery to learn about dinosaurs, the ice age, first people, and royalty.

Crafts are for ages 3-12 years.

Mondays 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and Tuesdays 1 - 3 p.m.

Week 1 – Deep Seas

Monday, June 1 & Tuesday, June 2

Dive in to create an ocean-inspired craft and uncover how ancient sea creatures left clues hidden in the earth.

 

Week 2 – Wild Swamps

Monday, June 8 & Tuesday, June 9

Get a little messy as you craft with nature and explore how ancient swamp plants became part of the ground beneath us.

 

Week 3 – Dino World

Monday, June 15 & Tuesday, June 16

Stomp into creativity with dino-themed crafts while uncovering how fossils reveal the world of dinosaurs.

 

Week 4 – Frozen Earth

Monday, June 22 & Tuesday, June 23

Chill out with a “cool” craft and discover how ice preserved ancient animals and shaped the land.

 

Week 5 – First Fires

Monday, July 6 & Tuesday, July 7

Spark your creativity as you build and create while learning how early people used the earth to survive.

 

Week 6 – Rising Villages

Monday, July 13 & Tuesday, July 14

Build and design your own creation as you explore a time when people began settling down and growing together

 

Week 7 – Crowned Kingdoms

Monday, July 20 & Tuesday, July 21

Create something fit for royalty as you learn how stones and gems became treasures of kings and queens.
