Children's Events

Recurring and special events designed for children ages 0-12.

Please note children under twelve (12) may not be left unattended in the library or at library programs. A sibling and/or a babysitter (age 17 or older) may accompany a young child; however, if the sibling or babysitter cannot control the younger child, the younger child shall be considered unattended.

Baby Time (0-12 months)

Mondays and Wednesdays | 9:45 AM

Baby Time is designed for babies that are not yet walking confidently and their caregivers. Learn together through a shared story, songs, action rhymes, and play. The storytime session ends with a short period of time for caregivers to chat and network and for babies to play together.

Wiggleworms Storytime (12-24 months)

Mondays and 3^rdFridays | 10:30 AM

Wiggleworms encourages learning and early literacy through music, movement, and play. This program is best suited for little ones who are crawling and walking. The storytime session ends with a short period of time for caregivers to chat and network and for babies to play together.

Toddler Storytime (24-36 months)

Tuesdays | 9:45 AM

Let’s sing, talk, read, and play together! Toddler Storytime is designed for two- and three-year-olds. Toddlers and their caregivers are invited to participate in interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and play. The storytime session ends with a short period of time for caregivers to chat and network while toddlers play together. Caregivers are encouraged to participate! Siblings are welcome to attend.

Preschool Storytime (3-5 years)

Tuesdays | 10:30 AM

Preschool storytime offers children ages 3-5 opportunities to learn through reading, playing, talking, singing, and writing. Preschoolers will enjoy interactive stories, songs, and activities that encourage emerging language skills. The storytime session ends with a short period of time for caregivers to chat and network while preschoolers play together. Caregivers are encouraged to participate! Siblings are welcome to attend.

¡Hora del cuento bilingüe para niños pequeños! Bilingual Toddler Storytime (0-3 years)

Wednesdays | 10:30 AM

La hora del cuento bilingüe se ofrece en inglés y español. Es un programa de doble idioma, por lo que parte del contenido se presenta en inglés y otra parte en español.

Se invita a los niños pequeños y a sus cuidadores a disfrutar de historias interactivas, canciones y rimas en ambos idiomas. La sesión concluye con un breve espacio para que los cuidadores conversen y socialicen, mientras los niños juegan juntos. Este programa está dirigido a niños de 3 años o menos.

Bilingual storytime is presented in English and Spanish. It is a dual language program, so some material is presented in English and other material is presented in Spanish

La hora del cuento bilingüe se presenta en inglés y español. Es un programa bilingüe, por lo que parte del contenido se ofrece en inglés y otra parte en español.

Esta actividad invita a los niños a disfrutar de historias, canciones y rimas en ambos idiomas dentro de un entorno interactivo. Está dirigida a niños de 3 a 5 años y a sus cuidadores.

Let's Play: Pokémon Club (5-12 years)

We are official! Join the ALA Connect Pokémon Library Club at the Kyle Public Library and dive into the world of Pokémon. The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) and the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) have partnered with The Pokémon Company International to bring Pokémon Clubs to your library!

Pokémon Club attendees can learn to play the game, enjoy fun activities, and make new friends through the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG).

*Pokémon Club aims to be inclusive and welcoming to all young players, regardless of their skill level or familiarity with Pokémon. Pokémon Club is not intended to be competitive. It will be a space exclusively for casual play and learning. Trading Pokémon cards is not part of this program. Please leave personal cards and decks at home. Library Pokémon cards will be used for game play and will remain at the library for future sessions. KPL is not responsible for lost, stolen, or traded items.

LEGO Lab (5-12 years)

Thursday, September 17 | 4:30 PM

Let your imagination run wild and explore your engineering skills as you create and build with LEGO blocks provided by the library. Challenges will be provided to test your creativity. LEGO creations will stay in the library on display until the next event.

*This is a ticketed event. Tickets will be available 30 minutes before the event. Tickets are provided on a first come, first served basis.

Tween Scene (9-12 years)

Thursday, September 24 | 4:30 PM

Tweens are invited to the library to try out the Makerspace, explore STEAM challenges, and craft together. Each week, a new experience will be provided to our kids inbeTWEEN. Grownups are welcome to stay in the library during the program.

Discovery Time (0-5 years)

Saturday, September 26 | 10 AM

Children are invited to explore sensory bins filled with safe, tactile materials designed for little hands. They can scoop, pour, sort, and discover while building fine-motor and early learning skills in a relaxed, drop-in setting that encourages curiosity and open-ended play. Dress for mess and hands-on fun.
