Traffic Notices

The City of Kyle provides traffic notices to keep residents and visitors informed about road work, closures, detours, and other activities that may affect travel. Each notice includes details about the project, anticipated impacts on drivers and pedestrians, and schedule updates as work progresses. Check this page regularly to stay aware of changing conditions and plan your routes safely.

Starting January 12 through April 3, there will be intermittent lane closures on Kohlers Crossing at the Kyle Crossing and Marketplace Avenue intersections.

The work being performed will consist of constructing a new acceleration lane west of the Marketplace intersection for traffic turning west onto Kohlers Crossing; extending the existing left-turn lane off of Kohlers onto Marketplace Avenue; and extending the existing Kohlers Crossing left turn lane onto Kyle Crossing. Work will begin at the Kohlers Crossing and Kyle Crossing intersection and then to the Marketplace Avenue intersection as the work nears completion at the Kyle Crossing intersection.

Drivers should expect inside lanes and left-turn lanes to be closed intermittently to allow room for contractor equipment and worker safety.

Work hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, weather permitting.

Drivers are asked to obey traffic signs, drive cautiously, and expect delays.

Project Description:

The City of Kyle will begin construction on the Amberwood ADA Ramp Improvement Project starting Monday, September 29, 2025. Work will include removing and replacing sidewalks, curbs, and ramps throughout the neighborhood to meet current ADA standards and improve pedestrian safety and accessibility.

Amberwood was chosen for ADA ramp improvements because it represents both a high-need and high-impact opportunity for the City’s first year of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. As a HUD-defined Low-to-Moderate Income (LMI) neighborhood, Amberwood qualifies for these funds, and staff prioritized projects that would provide meaningful benefits to the community. The neighborhood’s infrastructure, now approximately 25 years old, shows signs of wear, with many curb ramps either in disrepair, missing entirely, or no longer meeting current ADA standards. Upgrading the sidewalks and ramps in Amberwood not only enhances accessibility for residents of all ages and abilities but also strengthens connectivity across the neighborhood, supporting safer travel to schools, parks, and local businesses.

The City intends to continue utilizing CDBG funds each year to address the greatest community needs in eligible areas. Sidewalk and accessibility improvements remain a key priority, and staff will evaluate future project locations annually based on demonstrated need, program eligibility, infrastructure conditions, and how proposed improvements align with the City’s broader mobility and capital planning goals.

Closures:

No traffic closures are anticipated during construction. However, drivers are urged to use caution and watch for pedestrians who may need to cross the street or take alternate routes while sidewalk sections are under construction. Pedestrians should also expect to use alternate paths during active work zones.
