Description and Background
The Gregg-Clarke All Wheels Skatepark is being developed to meet growing demand for inclusive, outdoor recreation space in Kyle. As the city continues to grow, residents have expressed a need for dedicated facilities that support a wide range of activities for different ages and skill levels.
This project was identified through community input, long-range parks planning, and the voter-approved 2020 parks bond. Public engagement played a key role in shaping the final design, with residents and user groups providing feedback throughout 2023 and early 2024.
Existing park amenities do not currently provide a dedicated, purpose-built space for wheeled sports. This project addresses that gap by creating a safe, accessible environment designed specifically for skateboarding, BMX, scooters, rollerblading, mountain biking, and wheelchair use.
The skatepark will include a variety of features to support both beginner and advanced users. Planned elements include a multilevel street plaza, bowl features, pump tracks, and shaded areas. The design prioritizes accessibility, safety, and flexibility, allowing the space to serve a wide range of users and activities.
The project also supports the goals outlined in the City’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan by expanding recreational opportunities and enhancing quality of life for residents.
