The City identified this project through long-range water utility planning and operational review of the existing pump station. As Kyle grows, additional storage, pumping capacity, and redundancy are needed to maintain reliable service.

The current facility has limited storage capacity and must cycle frequently to keep up with demand. That makes routine maintenance more difficult and reduces operational flexibility for critical water infrastructure.

The project will modernize the pump station, increase water system capacity, improve treatment and pumping equipment, add emergency backup systems, and create room for future expansion. It will also improve site access and security.

This project benefits water customers citywide by improving system reliability, strengthening operational resilience, and helping ensure Kyle’s water system can serve future growth.

Planned improvements include expanded storage, upgraded pumps, new disinfection equipment, backup power generation, site access improvements, new buildings for operations, and upgraded fencing, lighting, and security features.

Most work is expected to occur on utility property at and adjacent to the existing facility. As construction planning advances, the City will share information about any temporary traffic impacts, access changes, or nearby construction activity.

Backup power helps keep critical water facilities operating during electrical outages or emergency events, improving overall system reliability and service continuity.
