The City of Kyle provides traffic notices to keep residents and visitors informed about road work, closures, detours, and other activities that may affect travel. Each notice includes details about the project, anticipated impacts on drivers and pedestrians, and schedule updates as work progresses.

Downtown Kyle Street Improvements - North Street and Main Street

Starting Tuesday, October 27 and going until Friday, October 30 there will be intermittent lane closures on the following downtown Kyle streets for an asphalt mill and overlay improvement project:

North Street from the dead end to Burleson Street
Main Street from North Street to Austin Street

Work hours will be from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. In the event of inclement weather, crews will return the next workday or when good weather permits.

Residents are asked to park vehicles in their driveway and not in the street. During construction, there will be times when the driving surface will be rough.

Drivers are asked to obey traffic signs, watch for flaggers and heavy equipment, and drive with caution. In the event of fresh oil being applied to the street, observe fresh oil signs and drive slowly.

Downtown Kyle Street Improvements - Main Street Lane Closures

Starting Monday, October 5 and going until Wednesday, October 21 there will be lane closures on Main Street in downtown Kyle for an asphalt mill and overlay improvement project.

Main Street between Lockhart Street and Center Street will be closed between Monday, October 5 and Friday, October 9
Main Street Between Center Street and Miller Street will be closed between Tuesday, October 13 and Wednesday, October 21.

Parking spots will be closed for the duration of the projects. Work hours will be from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Main Street will be open to traffic after 5 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, crews will return the next workday or when good weather permits.

Kohlers Crossing & Kyle Crossing Temporary Stop Signs

At 4 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, an 18-wheeler took out the traffic signals at Kohlers Crossing and Kyle Crossing.

While staff work quickly to secure temporary traffic signals, the intersection will operate as a four-way stop.

We strongly encourage drivers to operate cautiously at the intersection until temporary signals are put in place. Thank you to our Transportation and Public Works crews and Kyle Police Department for working overnight to clear the intersection and make it safe for Kyle motorists.

Kohlers Crossing Main Water Line Installation

Starting Monday, September 21 the westbound lane of Kohlers Crossing between FM 1626 and Benner Road will be closed for the installation of a 24” water transmission main improvement project. This closure is expected to last through December 2026.

This project includes the installation of a 6,300 linear feet of 24-inch and 30-inch main water line to supply additional water from the FM 1626 Pump Station site to a nearby well, ultimately supporting pressure planes and the City’s overall water supply and infrastructure.

At times, access to Cromwell Drive, Everett Street, Burnham, and Benner Road may be impacted but access to the Brick and Mortar district including the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center, Sprouts and other nearby businesses will be maintained.

Starting Tuesday, September 8 and going until Wednesday, September 30 there will be intermittent lane closures on the following downtown Kyle streets for an asphalt mill and overlay improvement project:

Lockhart Street from Burleson to Front Street
Front Street from Lockhart to Austin Street
Austin Street from Front Street to Burleson Street

2022 Road Bond Program: Bebee Road Closure and Detour

This detour began on June 17, 2026 and will run through October 31, weather permitting. Bebee Road will be temporarily closed at IH-35 as part of the 2022 Road Bond Program construction project.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured through the new IH-35/Kohlers Crossing intersection and along the Kohlers Crossing extension, reconnecting with Bebee Road west of Republic Drive. One lane in each direction will remain open to accommodate through traffic.

Access to Lakeside Crossing from Bebee Road will remain open during this phase of construction.

The work being done on Bebee Road includes widening it from two lanes to four with a center turn lane, the addition of drainage, curbs, and sidewalks along both sides.

Motorists may experience delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible. Please follow all posted traffic control devices, watch for construction crews and equipment, and use extra caution when traveling through the work zone.

Cypress Road Closure and Detour

Starting Friday, July 24 and going until Wednesday, October 28 Cypress Road from Old Stagecoach Road to Cold River Run will be closed for the developer-led installation of a force main wastewater line.

Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. During those times a detour and signage will be in place.

Individuals who live in the area will still be able to access their homes. Flagging operations will continue while the roadway is closed and the detour is in place; they will direct vehicle traffic for affected driveways and homes.

Drivers are asked to obey traffic signs, follow detours, watch for flaggers and heavy equipment, and drive with caution. This is a developer-led project being done by Cash Construction.
