Pool and Aquatics

The James Adkins Pool is closed for the 2025 season.

The James Adkins Pool located at 1100 W. Center Street first opened on April 17, 2004. Since then thousands of residents and visitors have spent their hot summer days cooling off at the City of Kyle’s community pool. On September 1, 2020, City Council voted to rename the pool to honor former Mayor James Adkins.

Adkins served as the first Black mayor in the City of Kyle from 1998 to 2005 and passed away on Jan. 3, 2016, after a battle with prostate cancer. Under his leadership, the City of Kyle passed a bond for the construction of the pool at Gregg-Clarke Park and went on to open the pool to the public on April 17, 2004.

During the aquatic season, the James Adkins Pool is utilized for open swim, swim lessons, swim team practices, and fun aquatic recreational activities and programs. The James Adkins Pool is available for seasonal rentals, such as birthday parties, graduation parties, staff parties and more.
