Youth and Teen Programs

The Kyle Public Library offers a variety of recurring and special programs designed for children ages 0-17.

Please note children under twelve (12) may not be left unattended in the library or at library programs. A sibling and/or a babysitter (age 17 or older) may accompany a young child; however, if the sibling or babysitter cannot control the younger child, the younger child shall be considered unattended.

Preschool Storytime (3-5 years)

Mondays | 9:45 AM

Preschoolers will enjoy interactive stories, songs, activities, and imaginative play. Each storytime session will have a theme, letter of the day, and crafts and activities. Caregivers are encouraged to participate!

Wiggleworms Storytime (12-24 months)

Mondays | 10:30 AM

A new program for the library’s most energetic users. Wiggleworms Storytime encourages learning and reading through music, movement, and play. This program is best suited for little ones who are crawling and walking.

Baby Storytime (0-18 months)

Tuesdays and Thursdays | 9:45 AM

Babies (along with their favorite grownup) will enjoy a shared story, songs, action rhymes, and play time together. Early literacy and child development tips and tricks for parents and caregivers will be included. Best suited for little ones who are not yet walking.

Toddler Storytime (24-36 months)

Tuesdays and Thursdays | 10:30 AM

Toddlers are invited to participate in stories, songs, fingerplays, and rhymes. This program is designed with two- and three-year-olds in mind. Little imaginations will be captured while building critical early literacy skills. Caregivers are encouraged to participate!

¡Los Cuentos Bilingüe! Bilingual Storytime (0-5 years)

Wednesdays | 9:45 AM

Bilingual Storytime is presented in English and Spanish. It is an opportunity for young children to engage through stories, finger plays, music, and activities.

Cuentos bilingües están presentados en inglés y español. Es una oportunidad en que los niños pueden aprender en la moda de cuentos, canciones, música, y actividades.

PJ Storytime (18 months-5 years)

1^st Wednesdays | 6 PM

Drift into a dreamy evening of tales and tunes at our magical PJ Storytime. Wear your coziest pajamas and bring along a stuffed friend ready for adventure. It’s the perfect way for families to end the day with a sprinkle of wonder.

STEAM Storytime (18 months-5 years)

4^thWednesdays | 1 PM

Join us for a lively storytime created especially for school-age kids. We’ll share captivating books and hands-on activities that inspire creativity and confidence. Each storytime session will include a STEAM activity.

Discovery Time (18 months-5 years)

1^st and 3^rd Fridays | 9:45 AM

Children are invited to explore sensory bins filled with safe, tactile materials designed for little hands. They can scoop, pour, and discover while building fine-motor and early learning skills in a relaxed, drop-in setting that encourages curiosity and open-ended play. Dress for mess and hands-on fun.

Sweethearts Celebration (0-5 years)

Saturday, February 14 | 10 AM

Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the library! We’ll start with a fun storytime, then dive into crafty Valentine creations. Make a card, design a sweetheart craft, or create a thoughtful gift to share with someone you love. Come spread kindness, creativity, and lots of heart!

Spring Break Programs (3-12 years)

March 16 - March 20 | 1 PM

Celebrate spring break at the library! Children and families are invited to explore, create, and play together in a fun, welcoming library space. Activities marked * are come & go style.

03/16 – Process Art* - Embrace the mess, risk and effort! Make art focusing on the process of creating rather than the final product. All supplies are provided by the library.

03/17 – Let’s Build!* - Join us for an hour of building! Various materials for building will be offered, including Legos, blocks, straws, and newspaper. Challenges will be given.

03/18 – Scavenger Hunt* - Bring a friend or family member to hunt at the library. Search inside and out for library-related characters. Find all the characters to receive a prize.

03/19 – Movie at the Library – We’re going to the movies! Join us in the meeting room as we watch a springtime movie.

03/20 – Dance Party – Break it down! Bring your best dance moves and groove as we play popular dance music.

Littles Prom (0-5 years)

Saturday, April 11 | 2 PM

You are cordially invited to the 2^nd annual KPL Littles Prom. Bring your littles ones in their favorite dress, suit, or other party attire for some dancing, snacks, and crafts! We will provide all the décor, snacks, and fun. (Or if they prefer to come as a fairy, dinosaur, or other fun outfit, that totally works too.) Photo ops will be available.

Bubbles, Bubbles, and More Bubbles! (0-5 years)

Saturday, April 25 | 11 AM

Spring is in bloom at the library. We are celebrating with a bubble party!

Join us for a whimsical wonderland filled with colorful bubbles of all shapes and sizes! From tiny bubbles that tickle your nose to gigantic bubbles that dance in the air, there's something magical for every little one to enjoy. Bring your little bubble enthusiasts to the library to make a splash at our Bubble Party!

Note: Weather permitting; this program will be held outdoors.

Anti Valentine's Day Party (13-17 years)

Tuesday, February 10 | 5:30 PM

Get ready for an epic Anti-Valentine’s Day Party where friendship, fun, and pure chaos rule! Skip the romance and unleash your inner mad scientist by creating a bizarre, one-of-a-kind Franken Toy. Dig into “stinky snacks,” play lively games, and embrace the weird. Whether you come with friends or fly solo, this night is all about having a blast your way.

Teen Tiny Art Studio (13-17 years)

Tuesday, February 17 | 5:30 PM

If you’re making something awesome for the Teen & Adult Tiny Art Showcase, come hang out and create it with us! This session is just for teens, and we’ve got everything you need — plenty of space, tons of paint, and cool materials to bring your tiny masterpiece to life.

Teen Craft Night (13-17 years)

Tuesday, March 10 | 12 PM

Come hang out, vibe with other teens, and make your own custom Shrinky Dink keychain. It’s creative, it’s fun, and it’s all just for teens!

Teen Spring Break: Button Making (13-17 years)

Tuesday, March 17 | 3:30 PM

Teens, put your creativity to the test! Design and make your own buttons! An exciting design challenge will be given to those who wish to participate. At the end of the program, teens will vote on their favorite button submitted for the challenge, just for fun and bragging rights! Everyone will get to take their own buttons home or share them with others.

Teen Resume Workshop (13-17 years)

Hey Teens! Are you looking to land that summer job? Attend this workshop to learn how to get started or improve your resume. As a bonus, this workshop will help you be ready for the Teen Job Fair being held at the Kyle Public Library on Saturday, April 18.

Teen Interview Workshop (13-17 years)

Tuesday, April 14 | 5:30 PM

Are you a teen looking to land that summer job? Learn how to make an impression that will help you stand out! Additionally, receive tips on how to handle spontaneous, on-the-spot interviews, such as those that occur during job fairs. This workshop will help you prepare for the Teen Job Fair being held at the Kyle Public Library on Saturday, April 18.

Teen Job Fair (13-17 years)

Saturday, April 18 | 10 AM - 1 PM

Meet recruiters from Kyle and other businesses that are interested in hiring teens just like you. There will be volunteering opportunities for ages 13 - 17, and employment opportunities for ages 16 and up. As a bonus, get a professional headshot taken at the event! No registration required or prior work experience needed.
