Description and Background
The City of Kyle is developing a new community center at 1500 Dacy Lane to meet increasing demand for recreational senior services, programming, and community gathering space. As the city continues to grow, existing facilities, including the Krug Activity Center, are no longer able to safely or effectively support participation levels or program needs.
The project creates a larger, fully ADA compliant facility designed for flexibility and long-term use. The building will support a wide range of programming, with the primary focus of senior services, adaptive recreation, and general community use. It is designed with attention to accessibility, safety, acoustics, lighting, and comfort.
The City has worked closely with the Kyle Area Senior Zone (KASZ) throughout the planning and design process. This partnership will continue as services transition from the Krug Activity Center to the new facility, helping expand program capacity while maintaining continuity for current participants.
The property was purchased in December 2024, and design began shortly after. Community input helped shape the facility through public meetings and stakeholder discussions in early 2025. Final design was approved by City Council in June 2025, and construction began in September 2025. Interior renovations are currently underway.
Once complete, the facility will also offer rentable meeting rooms and event spaces managed by the Parks and Recreation Department.
Note: The “Kyle Community Center” name is an interim name approved on June 17, 2025. A formal naming policy is under development and will return to City Council for adoption.
