Hays County Safety Action Plan to Improve Road Safety
On June 17, 2025, the Kyle City Council unanimously passed a resolution adopting the Hays County Safety Action Plan, marking a significant step forward in our commitment to enhancing transportation safety throughout our community.
Why This Matters
Traffic fatalities and serious injuries are preventable—and even one loss of life is too many. With this resolution, the City of Kyle joins a growing number of communities taking bold steps to create safer, more inclusive streets.
What's in the Plan?
The Hays County Safety Action Plan, developed in collaboration with the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), identifies high-injury intersections and corridors across the county, including in Kyle. This plan provides the foundation for targeting safety improvements where they’re needed most.
Next Steps: Funding a Safer Future
By adopting the plan, the City of Kyle becomes eligible to apply for federal funding through the Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Grant Program. If awarded, this funding will support the development of a City of Kyle Safety Action Plan and help launch pilot projects to address hazardous locations and make meaningful safety upgrades.
A Growing Vision for Transportation
This resolution supports the work of Kyle’s newly established Transportation and Public Works Department, which is focused on forward-thinking, responsive management of the city’s transportation network—prioritizing safe and efficient movement for everyone, whether by car, bike, foot, or transit.
