Attend a Meeting
Public meetings are one way residents can stay connected to what is happening in Kyle and share input on local decisions. The Public Meetings Calendar includes more than just City Council, it also includes meetings such as Planning and Zoning Commission, Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone meetings, and other boards and commissions like the Parks and Recreation Board, Board of Adjustment, or Train Depot Board. Residents are welcome to attend, and depending on the agenda, may have opportunities to speak during public comment or during public hearings on certain items. Many of Kyle’s boards and commissions rely on residents who volunteer their time and expertise to help shape their community. Serving on a board is a meaningful way to share your perspective, stay involved in local issues, and help guide programs, policies, and initiatives that impact our city. The Boards, Commissions, and Committees
Arts and Cultural Board
Advises City Council on arts, cultural programs, and public art while helping plan events and creative initiatives that enrich the community.
Board of Adjustment / Sign Control Board
Hears zoning appeals, considers variance requests, addresses unsafe building cases, and oversees sign regulation decisions when needed.
Board on Aging
Advises City leadership on programs, services, and facilities that support aging residents and enhance quality of life for older adults in Kyle.
Charter Review Commission
Appointed every five years to review the City Charter and recommend updates for voter consideration.
Civil Service Commission
Oversees hiring, promotion, testing, and disciplinary appeal procedures for civil service police personnel.
Council Compensation Committee
Reviews City Council compensation every three years and makes recommendations to Council.
Economic Development & Tourism Board
Advises City Council on business recruitment, retention, marketing, and tourism strategies to support responsible growth and economic vitality.
Ethics Commission
Reviews ethics complaints, interprets the City’s Ethics Code, and helps uphold integrity and public trust in city government.
Impact Fee Advisory Committee
Reviews land use assumptions and capital improvement plans and provides recommendations related to development impact fees.
Kyle Area Youth Advisory Council (KAYAC)
Provides local teens with a voice in city government and offers youth perspectives on community issues and policies.
Kyle Housing Authority Board
Provides oversight for the independent housing authority that supports affordable housing and community improvement efforts.
Library Board
Advises on library policies, programs, and services and promotes the success of the Kyle Public Library.
Parks and Recreation Board
Advises on parks planning, recreational programs, facilities, and the city’s Parks Master Plan, serving as a public forum for park-related issues.
Planning and Zoning Commission
Reviews development proposals, plats, zoning changes, and comprehensive plan updates, and makes recommendations to City Council.
Train Depot Board
Advises on the preservation, maintenance, and programming of the Kyle Railroad Depot and Heritage Center while supporting historic preservation efforts.
TIRZ #2 Board
Oversees Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #2 to support public improvements and targeted development within its designated area.
TIRZ #3 Board
Guides investment and development priorities within the designated geographic area of Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #3.
TIRZ #4 Board (Limestone Creek)
Oversees public improvement and development efforts within the Limestone Creek Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone.
TIRZ #5 Board (Caraway / Hot Pursuit / New Quest)
Supports infrastructure and development initiatives within the Caraway, Hot Pursuit, and New Quest Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone.
TIRZ #6 Board (Downtown)
Focuses on public improvements and development within the Downtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone area.
