City of Kyle to Officially Rename South Goforth Road to Honor Former Council Member

KYLE, TEXAS –– The City of Kyle will host a road naming ceremony to officially dedicate Chevo Pastrano Senior Parkway — formerly South Goforth Road — on Friday, September 5, 2025, starting at 6 p.m. on Logistics Drive near Chevo Pastrano Senior Parkway (South Goforth Road) Intersection.  

The roadway is being renamed in honor of former Council Member Chevo Pastrano Sr., who served on Kyle City Council for eight consecutive terms from 1985 to 2001. Twice selected as Mayor Pro Tem, Pastrano was a steady and respected presence in city leadership. His contributions included supporting the adoption of the city’s first sign ordinance, guiding the renovation of the former post office into administrative offices and approving subdivisions that supported Kyle’s growth, including Spring Branch, Plum Creek, Prairie on the Creek, and Southlake. He also played an instrumental role in forming the Kyle Historic District Committee and consistently advocated for balanced growth and community preservation.  

The renaming of the roadway was shaped by community input. In January 2025, City Council directed staff to conduct a road renaming contest and community poll for South Goforth Road after it was determined to be a candidate for renaming. Originally, the road was designed to connect with the existing Goforth Road but changes to project alignment now require a new name to help avoid confusion with existing addresses on Goforth Road and mitigate potential future emergency response issues.  

A total of 468 residents participated in the community poll between June 25 and July 10 with 60% selecting Chevo Pastrano Senior as their preferred choice. At the August 5 city council meeting the name Chevo Pastrano Senior Parkway was officially adopted. The roadway has a planned future extension northeast from Yarrington Road to FM 150 through the CityPoint Kyle developments.  

No residents or businesses are impacted by the name change as this section of roadway does not yet have active addresses.
