Water for the Community Garden at Post Oak comes from an on-site City of Kyle water line. Members of the Community Garden pay an annual charge per plot to cover the cost of water. The Community Garden is metered to track usage.

Water usage is subject to City of Kyle water restrictions. However, the Community Garden at Post Oak was granted a water variance, allowing gardeners to water outside of current Amended Stage 3 Drought Restrictions and during sunrise to sunset operational hours.

Gardeners are only able to water their beds with a handheld spray nozzle with trigger locks making them inoperable if left unattended. City staff check the garden every morning, Monday through Saturday, to ensure regulations are being followed. Gardeners can also utilize the Olla Water System that provides moisture at the roots, preventing excess water waste to evaporation and is preset in all garden beds.

The variance, and watering restrictions, are subject to change under more stringent drought restrictions.
