Mary Kyle Hartson Park
Mary Kyle Hartson Park is a Lone Star Legacy Park as old as the City of Kyle itself. The 1.4-acre park sits at the corner of Main Street and W. Center Street and is a hub for the community in Downtown Kyle. Large shade trees, green space, benches, pavilions, and picnic tables support a variety of social gatherings ranging from a family picnic to Kyle Market Days.
In 1880, the original platting of Kyle included 2 acres in the center of town known as "Town Center". This was a gathering space for the community and in the early 1900's the Krug Activity Center (then Kyle City Hall) was built solidifying the space as a historical landmark.
In 2025, Mary Kyle Hartson Park was named a Lone Star Legacy Park by the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS). Lone Star Legacy Parks hold special prominence in the local community and the state of Texas. To qualify for consideration, the park must have endured the test of time and become iconic to those who have visited, played and rested on its grounds. Nominated parks must be a minimum of 50 years old and meet strict criteria.
